Content Management Systems

A content management system (CMS) allows you to edit the content of your web site yourself.

They are so easy to use, no technical involvement is needed by you, and if you need help, we provide full training and support.

They are integrated into your web site and can be customized to allow you to update or edit whatever aspects you like. They are generally used for sites that need to be updated regularly, eg with latest news or price information.

The site below is a perfect example of when a CMS is needed- this hotel has a late availability page on their web site that has to be updated regularly with the latest availability and prices.

How it works

The home page contains a list of links that let you edit each of the pages on your site.

The general process is to click Edit Page which will take you to the editable items for that page, then click Save Updates once you have made your changes. This will return you to the CMS home page where you can then View Page to check that your changes have been successful.



Each page has a general structure, the contents of which can be updated by you.

Most of the CMS pages look like the page below, they contain a text box for each of the updateable fields:



The blue and pink areas in the content management system above represent the associated text areas in the web page below.



Where there is more than one content area, it means that the web page is split into separate paragraphs because there are pictures on the page.

You can also edit the style of the content and add links within the text.

Availability

You can enter your room availability for the next three weeks from the current date. In the Availability page, just enter the room price for each type of room for each date. Click Save Updates at the bottom of the page when you have finished.

Availability for the next nine days from the current date for each room type are displayed in the Accommodation page of your web site.
